2006

Tim Currier

For your dedication and leadership towards advancing the game of basketball for the youth of the Massena area.

The time and leadership you have given to the Massena Basketball Association has provided great stability to the organization that will last for generations to come.

This unselfish time is part of the character that defines how you are spending your dash.

Thank you for being a part of our organization and always remember,

“For it matters not, how much we own; the cars, the house, the cash. What matters is how we live and love and how we spend our dash”.

Tim Currier – Awarded the Massena Basketball Association’s 2006 ‘Dash Award’

Tim Currier has been involved in Massena youth basketball for over 20 years. He started with the Biddy Basketball 5th-6th grade Boys Traveling Team in 1986. He was joined by Tom Miller in 1987 and they have coached together now for over 20 years.

Tim coached 5th-6th and 7th-8th Travel Boys for 10 years before taking the Junior Varsity High School Basketball coaching job in 1996. In Tim’s 2004-05 season, he recorded his 100th JV win.

Tim was the Vice Commissioner for Biddy Basketball in 1988 & 1989; and then again in 1994 through 1997.

In 1998 he lead the re-organization of both Biddy Basketball and the Massena Basketball Booster Club to form what is known today as the Massena Basketball Association.

Tim’s vision for the new organization was to preserve the great heritage of the past, while truly creating a World Class Youth Basketball Program for the future.

This was achieved by creating a set of By-laws that provided structure and guidance for the Association.

MBA has also created its own web page and to date, has had over 2700 visitors view its many pages.

The Massena Basketball Association is proud to say that we have been able to serve between 260 and 290 kids each year since 1988.

Many of the Basketball players here tonight have personally experienced Tim’s dedication, generosity, knowledge and skill for the sport of Basketball.

The Community of Massena is truly blessed to have Tim Currier as one of its residence.

This is why we, the MBA Board of Directors and Friends of Tim, created “The Dash” Award. (For those who don’t know – On a tombstone, the Dash represents a person’s life between the date of birth and the date of death.)
